The Rugby Lodge

The Rugby Football Lodge was conceived by W Bro Jack Lockwood and consecrated on Thursday 22nd September 2005
by the Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Yorkshire West Riding, R W Bro J Trevor Broadley JP. Sadly, just a few
weeks before the Consecration, W Bro Jack died. His name is now commemorated at each Installation ceremony when
a rose bowl, which is engraved with his name, is placed in front of the new Master at the Festive Board after the Lodge
meeting.
The original and abiding purpose was to create a Lodge for lovers of the game of rugby from all walks of life and more
importantly to embrace the fun culture of rugby and all its quirky traditions. There is no distinction between either code
and we welcome current, past players, officials and spectators.
Some of our ways of Lodge workings are different as we decided that as a Rugby Lodge, we would incorporate some of
the unique parts of rugby and this makes it more unique then all other lodges

We meet on the 4th Thursday of the months;
March, May, September – (When we elect a new Captain to control the team) and November
On each of the months we meet we have two practice sessions to hone our skills before the actual meeting
(These practice sessions are informal and relaxed – with lots of mistakes- just like having rugby practice)
